In the Stacks with Barry & LaToya

Barry’s sick, which means LaToya will be sick within days. Sure, they haven’t been in the same room since 2014, but LaToya gets sick at the mere mention of sickness. The show has its first guest in as many years, and he adds some real insight to Barry and LaToya’s musings. And if you want to hear about Angels, this is the show for you.

Barry wants to record early, and LaToya wants to try a different audio recorder for the show. Barry wins. LaToya loses because her plan to switch from Zoom to Skype didn’t work as she hoped. It’s been a busy past couple of days for the hosts. One host breaks up a fight while the other attended a wedding. And based on the title of this episode, it turns into a very interesting show.

Barry wants to record early so he can give out candy, but LaToya doesn’t care about the children. Who will think of the damned children??? Barry will, that’s who. Don’t hate, appreciate. LaToya’s taking up the helm of passing out candy for the first time in her adult life. If you’re hoping for a “clean” episode, this one isn’t it. After all, it’s our 100th!

LaToya is sick and didn’t want to do the show. Barry doesn’t care; the show must go on. The show meanders a bit, but there are great nuggets of information on political views, television shows, and Facebook friends. Plus, there’s a spike in our downloads, and it’s all thanks to Michigan. Will the hosts be face-to-face for the first time in over five years to record their upcoming 100th episode?

Barry is watching an ethnic show, and LaToya is in a crappy mood (nothing new there). However, her mood is improved when Barry shares fan mail from our favorite listener, Allie Fox. Despite feeling like there wasn’t anything to discuss, LaToya steals the show. Or so she thinks. Keeping with the times, Barry is excited about the new season of Riverdale but is uninterested in an upcoming Clueless revival. LaToya grudgingly has new tech but is still on track to being debt-free (minus the house) in 2023.

They’re back for another season, and LaToya isn’t ready to get back in the stacks. With an upcoming business trip and her trying to stave off a cold, she seems a bit delirious and absent-minded. Barry, on the other hand, is locked and loaded and brings his usual A-game to the season opener.

It’s the end of the 8th season. LaToya’s feeling more depressed than usual and was recently sick. Barry is still excited about The Great Gatsby and talks about his harrowing experience of falling down three steps. They both agree that there are movies that never need to be remade, thanks, Cary Elwes. Barry has a new solo podcast and reveals a season-ending cliffhanging confession.

Even with a well-planned show outline the hosts still meander into discussions around death, shacking up, and water hoses. Barry is excited that it’s “Gatsby” season and LaToya is looking forward to seeing Lizzie McGuire. First world problems abound as Barry is excited about a major accomplishment. And, despite their friendship of over a decade, Barry throws LaToya under the bus and makes her provide clarifying details of the first date weekend that she had with her now-husband of 7 years.

This week it seems that neither Barry or LaToya are watching the runtime clock for the episode making it the 3rd longest episode to date. LaToya informs Barry that the fans loved his raunchy closing of the last episode, but can he perform under pressure? Barry rethinks the BaToya rating scale. DragonCon 2019 has come and gone. Barry outsmarted a mosquito in a very surprising way. Nicknames go to a whole new “White Chocolate” level. Labor Day is a movie marathon day for LaToya and Barry’s the only one on Facebook Dating.
